Downey appeared in 13 games, making nine starts as a defender … she had two assists … helped the Bearkats shutout Southeastern Louisiana in a 0-0 double-overtime tie on 3/5, Nicholls 4-0 on 3/7, Lamar 2-0 on 4/3 and Abilene Christian 1-0 in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament on 4/15.

A three-year letterwinner from Mansfield High School, Downey played on the varsity team as a freshman, sophomore and senior ... In her freshman season, she picked up academic and first-team all-district honors after leading the squad to a bi-district championship ... earned the same recognition as a sophomore, leading Mansfield to a bi-district championship once again ... did not play high school soccer as a junior, instead, she joined the Dallas Texans U16/17DA team ... helped the Dallas Texans 01 Girl’s Black club to a Lake Highlands Girls Classic League Division I and Texas State Cup championship as a freshman and sophomore ... played for the Solar Girls West club for coach Ben Williams.
