Biography

A member of the past two Sam Houston State women's teams as a player, Lauren Tippet steps into a new role this season as a graduate assistant coach for the Bearkats.
Tippet played in a reserve role in 14 games and was a key leader for the team behind the scenes.

Her first season in 2010, the Bearkats qualified for the Southland Conference post season tournament for the first time in six seasons after posting an 8-8 regular season league record, the most wins for the program since 2000.

In 2011, the Bearkats rolled up a 17-14 overall record to post their first above .500 year since the 1995-96 squad went 18-10.

Tippet came to Sam Houston as a transfer from San Jacinto Junior College where she was two-year letter winner for  head coach Eric Taylor.

She played in all 57 games during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, shooting 77 percent from the free throw line as a sophomore. She averaged 4.6 points and totaled 45 assists as a freshman. She was starter for Clear Creek High School.

Southland Conference Commisioner's Academic Honor Roll member with 3.76 grade point average.
