Joe Lind

Joe Lind has served the past four seasons as assistant volleyball coach, helping direct the Bearkats to the Southland Conference post-season tournament each year.
Last year, Lind played a major role in helping lead Sam Houston to a 20-victory season, the most wins for Bearkat volleyball since the 1996 season. The Kats finished Southland Conference play as runners-up in the West Division with a 12-4 league mark. Sam Houston went undefeated at home in Johnson Coliseum in conference play.
At one point during the season, Sam Houston rolled up a 10-match winning streak, the program's longest since 1993.
 
Prior to the start of the season, Lind's efforts in recruiting were recognized nationally as Sam Houston was named by PrepVolleyball.Com for one of the top freshman classes in NCAA Division I in 2009.
Lind came to Sam Houston after serving two seasons as the volunteer assistant at North Dakota State University.
He helped lead the team to a third place finish in the 2006 NCAA Division I independent championships as well as the squad's best victory total in North Dakota State's third year as an NCAA Division I competitor. Among Lind's primary duties was utilizing the Bison's video editing software for scouting.
Lind played for the NDSU men’s volleyball club, helping lead the Bison to two consecutive Northern Intercolliegiate Volleyball Conference consolation silver division championship while earning All-Conference honors three times. As captain of the team, he led the squad to their best finishes at the NIRSA National Club Championship.
He received his bachelor’s degree in human performance from North Dakota State in 2005 and received a Master of Science in Exercise Science from NDSU in December 2009.
Lind also has worked the past two years as a teaching assistant in the health and exercise science department at NDSU. He served in 2005-06 as a graduate assistant for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Wellness Initiative in Fargo, ND, operating the employee fitness center and teaching fitness classes.
Lind is very active in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the governing coaches association in the sport of volleyball.  He serves as the Southland Conference representative for the AVCA Assistant Coaches committee, and this past December, he was a panel presenter at the annual AVCA Convention.
Lind was a football and track letterman in high school at Eagan, MN.
