HUNTSVILLE -- Cash Morgan scored both goals to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 2-1 Southland Conference women's soccer victory over Sam Houston State at Pritchett Field Friday night.
Raquel Bueno scored the Bearkats' lone goal.
Stephen F. Austin (5-5, SLC 3-0) ended Sam Houston State's seven-match winning streak. The Bearkats had not given up a goal in 661 minutes coming into the contest with the Lumberjacks.
But Morgan ended the school record scoreless streak at 665 minutes, scoring on a pass from Kesia Broome 4:26 into the contest.
Morgan's second goal came at the 32:16 mark.
Sam Houston fought back for a goal at 53:25 mark. Bueno's tally marked her 22nd career goal. The senior from Brazil stands as the Bearkats' all-time leading goal scorer.
The two teams were even in shots with eight apiece. Jenny Pence was credited with two saves and SFA goalkeeper Courtney Bauder totaled four.
“We knew the scoreless streak was going to come to an end sometime. The question was how we would respond,” SHSU head coach Tom Brown said. “We played better in the second half.”
Bueno took three of Sam Houston's eight shots. Natalie Pantel and Luana Miessa each had two and Britni Martin added one.
