Seniors to be honored at Saturday's volleyball finale

Seniors Megan McNamara and Haley Thomas will be honored Saturday afternoon before the Bearkat volleyball team completes its 2008 regular season schedule by hosting the Northwestern State Demons at 2 p.m. in Johnson Coliseum.
Thomas joined the Sam Houston squad this fall as a transfer from Baylor. The Jewett, Texas product made an immediate impact on the team, ranking among the Southland Conference's leaders with 2.38 kills per set and more than 100 total blocks. Thomas has posted double figure kills in 15 matches this season including a season high of 19 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She is a kinesiology major who played at Baylor for a year after earning All-America honors at Blinn College.
McNamara is a four-year letter winner who will complete her career at Sam Houston ranked sixth all-time in assists with more than 3,000. She has played in more than 120 matches as a Bearkat and ranked among the top 10 setters in assists three of her four years at SHSU. A biology major, the Woodlands product has been an Academic All-Southland Conference selection and serves as an officer on the Sam Houston Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Sam Houston has already clinched a berth in next week's Southland Conference post-season tournament in Nacogdoches. The Bearkats bring a 13-18 season mark and 8-7 league record into Saturday's contest.
Anna Ferguson leads the Bearkat squad in kills this year with 330.
