COLLEGE STATION -- A seventh inning rally by the Bearkats fell short in a 5-4 loss to Temple on Saturday morning.
After giving up four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Kats came back with three run in the top of the seventh, but stranded runners on second and third to end the game.
Brandi Crnkovich pitched for the Kats taking the loss. She allowed six hits and four runs while striking out eight batters.
Whitney Wilson led the way for the Kats at the plate with two hits, while driving in two runs. Casie Everitt and Mandy Huckabee each drove in runs for the Bearkats.
The Bearkats took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Huckabee's double scored Wilson who got on base on a walk.
Wilson doubled in two runs in the seventh and Everitt also picked up an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
In the Kats second game Saturday, North Texas handed Sam Houston a 4-3 loss.
The Eagles scored one run in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to go up 4-0. Sam Houston rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run double by Mandy Huckabee and an error. But the Eagles held on for the victory.
Morgan Mikulin took the loss, striking out five North Texas batters while giving up nine hits. Brandi Crnkovic pitched an inning and a third, giving up only one hit and striking out one.
