HUNTSVILLE -- Victories at number two and three doubles gave Texas-San Antonio the valuable doubles point and the two teams split in singles with three wins apiece as UTSA edged Sam Houston State in a Southland Conference dual match Saturday afternoon at the McAdams Tennis Center.
Irina Sotnikova and Peta Taylor won at number one doubles and each won their singles matches at number one and three.
Roxanna Martinez was the other singles winner for the Bearkats.
"Last year, we won a lot of close matches with the momentum gained by winning the doubles point," head coach Jim Giachino said. "This year, that's not happening. Hopefully we learned something today."
The Bearkats will close out the regular season Sunday at 11 a.m. when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
