Bearkat women grab All-SLC honors, earn NCAA regional berths

Led by Tiana Lee, Jessica Fisher, and Dess Meek, who each earned All-Southland Conference honors in three events, a total of 14 Sam Houston State women will receive All-SLC recognition by placing among the top three in an event or relay at last weekend's outdoor track and field championship won by the Bearkats.
Lee was first in the 400 meter hurdles, third in the 100 meter hurdles, and ran on the first place 4x100 relay. Fisher was second in the 200 meter dash, third in the 100 meters, and also ran on the winning 4x100 team. Meek, also a runner on the 4x100, took second in the high jump and third in the long jump.
Other women earning All-Southland Conference honors for the Bearkats were Mallory Adams, Kendall Bass, Allison Ferries, Brittany Henson, Karen Klintoe, Monika May, Regina Offord, Whitney Rister, Tiffany Singleton, Dakota Stewart, and Desiree Taylor.
Eight of these athletes also have earned the right to advance to the NCAA Regional Championships Friday through Saturday, May 30-31, at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. These eight have posted regional qualifying marks in 16 events either at the Southland Championships or in other meets during the spring outdoor schedule.
