Soccer match postponed to Saturday at 10 a.m.

Due to poor field conditions at Pritchett Field caused by Friday's rain, Sam Houston State's soccer match with Southeastern Louisiana has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Intramural Field No. 3 located between the Teacher Education Building and Bowers Stadium.
The contest was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Pritchett Field
Sam Houston will attempt to achieve a first in the seven-year history of the Bearkat women's soccer program when the Kats play host to Southeastern Louisiana.
The Bearkats will be out to extend its winning streak to three games Friday. For the second year in a row, Sam Houston opened Southland Conference play with a pair of road victories. The Kats defeated McNeese State 2-1 in Lake Charles and shut out Lamar 1-0 at Beaumont.
If the Bearkats can defeat the Lions, it would mark the first time in the seven-year history of the SHSU women's soccer program that the team has won three league games in a row.
"We're excited to have started conference with a pair of wins last weekend, but our goal all week in practice is to remained focused on what we have to accomplish this weekend," SHSU head coach Tom Brown said. "The Southland Conference appears to be very balanced from top to bottom. Every match is going to be a struggle. We're looking forward to our first Southland Conference home match Friday at Pritchett."
Brown's squad faces a formidable opponent in Southeastern Louisiana. The Lions bring a 7-3 overall record to Pritchett and started Southland Conference action with a victory as well, defeating Nicholls 2-1 last Sunday.
Southeastern Louisiana is the Southland's top scoring team, totaling 36 goals in their 10 matches for an average of 3.6 goals per game. Maiya Cooper with nine goals and Natalie Santana with seven scores rank No. 2 and No. 3 in the league in individual scoring.
Sam Houston State stands 4-5-2 for the year. Kirby Zak and Leah Snelson are the top Bearkat scorers, each with four goals.
The Bearkat defense ranks fourth in the Southland in goals allowed. Sam Houston State goalkeeper Jenny Pence and the Bearkat defense have shut out four opponents this season including Louisiana Tech, a team that came into Pritchett two weeks ago ranked number one in scoring in NCAA Division I women's soccer and left Huntsville with a 0-0 tie.
Sam Houston State players have picked up several honors in the last three weeks.
Pence has earned two Southland "Goalkeeper of the Week" awards. Two weeks ago Zak was Southland "Offensive Player of the Week" and last Monday Hilary Ackerman was "Defensive Player of the Week."
Admission to Sam Houston women's soccer at Pritchett Field is free. The Bearkats also will play a home Southland match at Pritchett Field Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Kats host Nicholls.
