HUNTSVILLE -- Nick Zaleski went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and Heath Pugh hit a two-run home run to lead Sam Houston State to a 12-1 non-conference baseball victory over Prairie View A&M Tuesday night at Don Sanders Stadium.
Justin Jackson (1-0) spread six hits over five innings, walking two and striking out four to earn the victory in his first start of the year.
The win keeps Sam Houston unbeaten 5-0 for the year. The Bearkats will host Nebraska, Missouri State and St Mary's of California at the Sam Houston Baseball Classic Friday through Sunday.
Nine Bearkats hit safely as Sam Houston totaled its 12 runs on 13 hits and one Panther error. Jon Reed and Mark Wyatt each had two hits apiece.
Prairie View totaled eight hits.
Jacob Howard, Nicholas Daniels and Sean Weatherford each pitched in relief for Sam Houston State.
