HUNTSVILLE ? The Sam Houston State baseball team split a pair of games in the second day of the Hillcrest Ford Sam Houston Classic.
The Bearkats took the night cap 15-11 over Missouri State in a ball game that ended at 1:07 a.m. at Don Sanders Stadium.
The Kats belted out 14 hits in the game and took advantage of six Bear errors and 14 walks by Missouri State pitching. Seth Hammock led the way for the Kat with four singles in the game, driving in one run.
Justin Keithley drove in three for the Kats on a 3-for-5 night and Mark Wyatt and Daniel Nottebart each had two.
The winning pitcher was Matt Shelton who worked three inning of relief allowing three hits and three strikeouts.
In the first game of the night for the Kats Nebraska got the best of them, taking an 8-1 decision.
Ryan Tepera took the loss allowing six runs on eight hits. Jacob Howard pitched 5 1/3 in relief for the Kats allowing two runs. Seth Hammock scored the Kats only run.
Sam Houston State will finish the tournament Sunday afternoon with a 2 p.m. game against Saint Mary's.
