HUNTSVILLE ? Sam Houston State defeated Nicholls State 6-1 in a Southland Conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon to up the Bearkats' season mark to 6-4.

The Bearkat doubles teams of  Irina Sotnikova / Peta Taylor, Giorgia Pozzan / Stasa Vujosevic and Eleonora Kuruc / Paty Manzur swept the doubles point.

In singles Sotnkova, Pozzan, Taylor and Kuruc all won in straight sets. Manzur had to go to a super tiebreaker to win her singles match.

Nicole September earned Nicholls its only point of the day by winning at number six singles.
