PRAIRIE VIEW -- Led by Calli Wood who went 4-for-6 and Erin Burford who hit 3-for-4, Sam Houston State run-ruled Prairie View A&M 12-1 and 17-4 in a pair of non-conference softball games Tuesday evening.
The Bearkats, who have had problems at the plate the past few weeks, had a pair of "get-well" outings. Sam Houston totaled 39 hits including 15 doubles and two triples in 10 innings of play.
Lauren Burns and Wood blasted triples in the first game. The Kats totaled 17 hits in the opening game and 22 hits in the nightcap as Sam Houston lifted its 2009 season record to 17-19.
Brandi Crnkovic (7-9) was the winning pitcher in the first contest. She limited the Panthers to six hits in five innings, striking out five batters. Tomi Garrison (3-3) took the nightcap, surrendering seven hits while striking out seven.
