HUNTSVILLE ? Centerfielder Anthony Moore went 3-for-5 with four RBIs to lead Lamar to a 13-6 Southland Conference baseball victory over Sam Houston State Thursday night at Don Sanders Stadium.
First baseman Chris Dunkin and catcher Ryan Saldivar had home runs for the Cardinals as Lamar upped its season record to 23-10. The Cards are 10-6 in conference action.
Lamar scored six runs in the top of the first and led by 10 twice in the game before the Bearkats scored two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth.
Justin Keithley, Nick Zaleski and Ryan Mooney each had three hits to lead Sam Houston (18-13, SLC 9-7). Zaleski hit a home run for the Bearkats.
Eric Harrington (6-0) was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals, spreading nine hits over five and two thirds innings and striking out six Bearkats. Sean Weatherford (4-3) was the loster.
The two teams meet Friday at 2 p.m. in the second contest of the three game series.
