Hailey Wiginton, Morgan Mikilin 2nd team All-SLC

Shortstop Hailey Wiginton and designated player Morgan Mikulin were second team selections and second baseman Whitney Wilson took third team honors to highlight Sam Houston selections to the 2009 All-Southland Conference softball team.
Third baseman Sarah Parich, catcher Casie Everitt and outfielders Kendry Spivey and Alex Survant all were honorable mention selections on the 2009 All-SLC squad.
Wiginton, an All-Southland selection as a freshman in 2008 as an outfielder, led the Bearkats in hitting this year with a .348 season average. The Friendswood product totaled 57 hits included eight doubles, three triples and five home runs. She led the Bearkats with 20 RBIs.
Mikulin, a junior from Huntsville, hit .273 for the season with 27 hits including six doubles and three home runs. She also posted an 11-9 record as a starting pitcher for the Bearkats.
Wilson, a sophomore from Garland, hit .284 with 31 hits including 11 doubles and two home runs.
Everitt, who has been the starting catcher for the Bearkats the past four years, ranked second on the team in hitting with a .313 average. Spivey was the team's third leading hitter with a .297 mark. Survant hit .282 while Parich, also a starter for the Kats the past four seasons, hit .268.
