Three SHSU men named Academic All-SLC

Chris Cralle, Dustin Joubert and Chris Nelson of Sam Houston State have been selected to the 2009 Academic All-Southland Conference men's track and field team.
Cralle, a junior political science major with a 3.27 overall grade point average, won the 2009 Southland Conference hammer title with a throw of 209 feet, 10 inches. He placed fifth at the NCAA Regional in Oklahoma and placed 13th in the NCAA national championships.
Joubert, an exercise physiology major with a 4.00 grade point average, is a four-year letter winner for the Bearkats as a distance specialist.
Nelson, a senior finance major with a 3.15 grade point average who scored in the high jump this season including a fifth place finish at the outdoor championships with a mark of six feet, 6.75 inches.
The Academic All-Southland Conference team is voted upon by the league's head coaches, academic coordinators and sports information directors. To be nominated for the honor squad, a student-athlete must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and be a starter or front line reserve who has played at least half of the season. True freshmen and first year transfers are not eligible for selection to the squad.
