Sam Houston State junior pitcher Ryan Tepera has signed to play baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays. Tepera was a 19th round pick by the Blue Jays in last month's Major League Baseball draft.
Tepera was a two-year pitcher for the Bearkats, posting a 2-1 record in 2009 with an ERA of 7.33. He recorded 36 strikeouts and 17 walks in 43 innings pitched this season.
In his career, Tepera recorded a 5-4 record with 87 strikeouts and posted an ERA of 6.68.
Tepera will join another former Bearkat, Nick Zaleski, who signed a free-agent deal with Toronto shortly after the draft. Zaleski is currently playing for the GCL Blue Jays in the Rookie Gulf Coast League.
