
Bearkats to take part in Cancun Challenge

HUNTSVILLE -- The Sam Houston State men's basketball team will take part in a unique event next season where they will get to take on four good Division I programs during the nonconfernece portion of their schedule. The Bearkats will be part of the field in the Cancun Challenge in November.
The tournament features eight NCAA Division I men's basketball teams and will be played November 18-25. There will be eight games played in the U.S. and eight games played at the Moon Palace Resort, a 5-star all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico.

The Bearkats will open the tournament in Kentucky to take on the Wildcats on Nov. 19. Two days later they will take on Cleveland State on the road. The following week the Bearkats will head down to Mexico and open up with Oral Roberts on Nov. 24. The Kats will then take on either Florida A&M or Rider.
The Cancun Challenge is owned and produced by Fort Collins, Colo.-based Triple Crown Sports, which also organizes women's college basketball tournaments in Cancun. Triple Crown coordinates the Preseason and Postseason Women's NIT as well.
Seating is limited for this exclusive event, and all fans must book travel packages through Triple Crown Sports or a designated travel agency for admission into games in Cancun. Games in Cancun will be played November 24 and 25.
