Huntsville -- Clarke Davis scored 11 points and three other Bearkats posted double digit games as Sam Houston defeated Centenary 83-55 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women's basketball game.
Ne-Ne Cook led Centenary (0-1) with 18 points. Ashton Jones scored 11 and Britni Martin and Chanice Smith each added 10 points for Sam Houston (2-1).
The game marked the third annual "Pack the House" game for SHSU women's basketball as elementary school students from the Huntsville area and surrounding communities attended, producing a school record attendance of 2,503. The old record was 2,456 at last year's "Pack the House" contest.
Sam Houston never trailed, outscoring Centenary 42-14 in the paint and picking up 39 points from its bench.
Sam Houston hit 17-of-33 in the first half (51.5 percent) to take a 52-28 lead at intermission. The Kats shot 43.3 percent for the game (29-of-67).
Led by Sequeena Thomas with seven boards, Sam Houston out-rebounded Centenary 51-40. Martin and point guard Jaleesa Thomas each totaled seven assists.
