Michael Holyfield signs with men's basketball

Holyfield averaged 12.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game as a junior on a team with seven seniors.
"Michael is a long, athletic and mobile post player," Hooten said. "He's going to bring more size underneath the basket for us."
Holyfield started every game as a junior for Manzano, earning second team all-district and all-metro honors.
"Mike was an integral part in helping our team win the district championship for the second consecutive year," Manzano high school head coach Travis Julian said. "We're excited to have him becoming a Bearkat."
Sam Houston State is the defending Southland Conference men's basketball champion. The Bearkats rolled up a 25-8 record last year, winning both the league regular season and tournament titles and battling Baylor in the first round of the NCAA tournament in New Orleans.
