Soccer to face BobcatsThursday in post-season play

Sam Houston State will be the No. 5 seed and face host team Texas State at 7 p.m. Thursday night in the first round of the 2010 Southland Conference post-season tournament.
The match marks Sam Houston's second consecutive appearance in the post-season event and the fourth time in the eight-year history of the program the Bearkats have qualified for post-season play. The Kats reached the semi-finals of last year's tournament and played in the finals in 2005.
Southeastern Louisiana earned the No. 1 seed in tournament, which begins Thursday at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in San Marcos, Texas. The Lions have won seven consecutive league matches and finished the regular season with a 7-1-1 league record. This is Southeastern Louisiana's fifth regular-season championship and first since 2006. The Lady Lions won the conference tournament last season.
Stephen F. Austin and UTSA each finished 6-2-1, but the Jacks earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament after beating the Roadrunners in the final day of the regular season. Both Southeastern Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin have a first-round bye and will await Thursday's winners.
The tournament's first match will have No. 3 seed UTSA taking on No. 6 seed Lamar on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will advance to play Stephen F. Austin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. UTSA finished the season with a 6-2-1 conference record, while Lamar posted a 3-4-2 record.
In Thursday's second match, No. 4 seed Texas State (5-3-1) will face No. 5 seed Sam Houston State (5-4-0) at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will face Southeastern Louisiana Friday at 7 p.m.
The winners of the two Friday matches will play for the tournament championship Sunday at 1 p.m., with the winner earning the league's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The championship match will be televised by the Southland Conference Television Network.
All five matches of the 2010 soccer tournament will be streamed live on SLC NOW on the Southland Conference website, southland.org. Fans must register on the site, but all content is free.
Tournament ticket prices are $10 for a single day and $15 for a two-day pass. Championship tickets are $8 for an adult and $6 for youth. Tickets are available online at txstatebobcats.com
