UTSA handed Sam Houston its second consecutive volleyball loss Thursday as the Bearkats feel 25-14 25-19 25-22 at the Convocation Center in San Antonio.
Sam Houston now stands 12-16 for the season and 6-7 in Southland Conference action with three matches remaining in the regular season. SHSU will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the road Saturday then return for the final two regular season games at home next Thursday and Saturday.
Carli Kolbe, Kim Black and Haley Neisler led the Bearkat offense. Kolbe totaled eight kills and Black and Neisler produced seven and six, respectively. Kendra Rowland led both teams with 16 kills.
UTSA totaled 46 kills in the match while Sam Houston managed only 26, making 21 hitting errors.
The Roadrunners never trailed in the first set. Sam Houston held an early 8-7 lead in the second frame before UTSA broke away. The Kats were up 16-15 in the third before the Roadrunners closed out the match with a 9-7 run.
