
Bowling third at New Jersey Jamboree

The Sam Houston State women's bowling team placed third in the New Jersey Jamboree held at Howell Lanes in Howell, N. J. this weekend.
The event was hosted by defending NCAA Division I national champion Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ten of the 18 teams entered in the event were ranked among the nation's preseason top 20. The tournament was a three-day event consisting of five Baker matches, five traditional matches and a playoff round of another three Baker matches.
Host FDU won the team championship, posting an overall record of 11 wins and one loss. The Knights' only defeat came at the hands of Sam Houston Friday.
Maryland Eastern Shore was the team runner-up with a 9-4 overall record. Sam Houston was third with an 8-5 mark.
Vanderbilt (7-6) placed fifth. Adelphi (9-4), Kutztown (6-7), Sacred Heart (10-3), New Jersey City (7-6), Saint Francis (8-5) and Long Island (7-6) rounded out the top 10.
Besides the victory over FDU at the Jamboree, Sam Houston posted victories two wins over No. 4 Vanderbilt and one victory each against No. 7 Delaware, No. 13 Adelphi and No. 15 Saint Francis (New York). SHSU also defeated unranked squads from Long Island and Monmouth.
Sam Houston's Kimi Davidson and Dayna Galganski placed ninth and 10th in the overall individual standings for the event. Davidson averaged 197.6 pins while Galganski produced a 195.8 average.
Also finishing among the top 30 individuals for Sam Houston were Shaina Woolbaugh (19th, 188.8) and Neishka Cardona (26th, 182.0).
