FORT WORTH -- No. 11 TCU completed a three-game sweep of Sam Houston State with a 15-2 seven inning victory over the Bearkats Sunday afternoon.
The Horned Frogs rolled up 18 hits a double and three home runs. TCU scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and five more in the third to jump out to a 9-1 lead.
Sam Houston totaled five hits with first baseman Taylor Davis going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Both hits were doubles. Left fielder Michael Heard, designated hitter Chris Andreas and Jessie Plumlee produced the other three hits. Plumlee hit also was a double.
Both teams used four pitchers. TCU starter Kyle Winkler went three innings to get the win, allowing only two hits and striking out three.
Sam Houston State starter Jordan Westra drew the loss, striking out two, walking three and giving up six hits and seven runs. Matt Shelton, Will Murray and Jacob McMurtry all saw action in relief.
The Bearkats will play host to Prairie View A&M at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night as Sam Houston State opens its 2010 home schedule at Don Sanders Stadium.
The Kats will meet Utah in a four-game home non-conference series this weekend.
