The Bearkats and the Bobcats will play at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Don Sanders Stadium
Texas State brings a 9-6 overall record into the series and is one of the hottest teams in the league now.
The Bobcats defeated Texas Tech of the Big 12 13-7 Tuesday night. Texas State's top hitter Bret Atwood exploded for a 5-for-6 night with four RBIs and a pair of stolen bases in the victory. Atwood leads the Bobcats with a.379 average at the plate.
Sam Houston stands 5-11 for the season. The Kats are led at the plate by Ryan Mooney with a .379 average. Taylor Davis (.343) and Braeden Riley (.320) also are top hitters for the Bearkats.
Both teams own 2-1 records in Southland play. The Bearkats opened league action last week taking two of three in a series at UT-Arlington.
This weekend's series is a rematch of the Southland Conference post-season tournament final from last May when the Bearkats defeated the Bobcats to advance to the NCAA baseball tournament for the third year in a row.
Texas State is the defending regular season Southland Conference champion and has been tabbed by the head coaches as the pre-season favorite to repeat in 2010.
