Texas State sweeps softball series with Bearkats

Right fielder Erin Burford provided Sam Houston (4-14, 0-4 Southland) its only tally with a third inning solo home run.
The Bobcats scored four runs in the first inning, added one run in both the third and fifth innings and ended the contest with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
First baseman Amy Brown and pitcher Morgan Mikulin each added a single to the Bearkat cause.
Mikulin (2-9) took the loss in the pitching circle despite striking out six Bobcat batters.
Sam Houston State will play host to Monmouth in a non-conference softball doubleheader Wednesday at Bearkat Softball Complex.
