Huntsville - Giorgia Pozzan came from 2-5 down in the third set to win the number one singles 6-4 3-6 7-6 in the decisive match as Sam Houston State defeated McNeese State 4-3 in a Southland Conference women's tennis dual match Sunday.

Pozzan defeated Ralista Pirdopska at number one, winning the third set tiebreaker 7-3.

Tatyana Posnikova, Sheridan Currie and Nadya Dubyanskaya picked up the Bearkats' other three points, winning at two, three and four singles, respectively. The Bearkats had to default the number six singles due to an injury.

McNeese State took the doubles point although Dudyanskaya and Postnikova teamed to win the number one doubles pro set.

The match closes Sam Houston's 2010 home schedule. The Bearkats will finish the regular season with their final conference match Wednesday at Stephen F. Austin. Sam Houston, which now stands 7-10 for the year and 6-4 in Southland action, already has clinched a spot in the eight-team Southland Conference post-season tournament at Corpus Christi April 23-25.

McNeese State dropped to 8-9 for the year and 4-7 in league action with the loss.
