Softball hosts Central Arkansas Saturday and Sunday

Sam Houston State softball will close out the 2010 regular season with a pair of home Southland Conference series the next two weekend.
This week, Central Arkansas is the opponent. The Kats and the Bears begin the three-game series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
UCA brings a five-game Southland Conference winning streak into Saturday's tilts including a series sweep over second place Stephen F. Austin last weekend.
Sam Houston also is hot, sweeping Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond last week. The Bearkats will close out the regular season on May 8 and 9 against Nicholls.
Still battling to clinch a berth in the annual Southland Conference post-season tournament by finishing among the top six regular season teams, Sam Houston currently is tied for eighth place with Central Arkansas. The Bearkats own a 18-25 season mark and UCA stands 22-27. Both are 10-13 in Southland action.
Morgan Mikulin threw every pitch for the Bearkats at Hammond last week as Sam Houston tamed the Lions 6-2, 12-2 and 7-0. The senior right hander has pitched in 105 of the Bearkats' 157 innings of Southland Conference action this year, rolling up an 8-10 won-loss record in the circle in league play.
"We're going to use Morgan as much as we can right now," SHSU head coach Bob Brock said. "She really came through for us last week at Southeastern Louisiana. These next six games are critcial and we are looking to finish strong."
Sophomores Erin Burford and Tomi Garrison have had the hottest bats for the Bearkats in league action this year. Burford has hit .347 and Garrison .343. For the season, Burford is Sam Houston's top power hitter with six doubles and five home runs.
