Mobile, Al - Tricia Mallory scored in the 51st minute to give Sam Houston State a 1-1 tie in a non-conference women's soccer match with Troy Sunday afternoon.  

Mallory scored from just inside the left side of the penalty arc after a pass from Natalie Johnson. The action Sunday completed the Bearkats' trip to Mobile for the South Alabama Soccer Classic.  

Troy took a 1-0 lead into intermission with a goal just two minutes before halftime by Jill Pinder.  

Sam Houston goalkeeper Jenny Pence shut Troy out the rest of the way as the two teams Troy played 20 minutes of scoreless overtime after the 90 minutes of regulation action was completed.  

"We had a better performance this afternoon than we did on Friday night," Sam Houston head coach Tom Brown said. The Bearkats fell to South Alabama 3-2 Friday in Mobile. "It was good to see us battle hard with a talented team like Troy."  

Pence made seven saves as Troy took 14 shots at the Bearkat goal. Sam Houston had five shots. The Bearkats had two scoring opportunities in extra time, one on a corner kick by Kelsi Brown and the other on a shot by Paige Rodriguez that was blocked by a Troy defender.

The Bearkats stand 2-5-1 for the season while Troy now owns a 3-2-1 mark for the year.

Sam Houston begins a three-match home stand, playing host to the Baylor Bears Friday night at 7 p.m. at Pritchett Field.
