Soccer hosts Prairie View Friday at 7 p.m.

After starting the season with an 0-4 record, the Bearkats have posted three victories and a tie in their last six contests to bring a 3-6-1 record into Friday's match. Four of their six losses have come by a margin of only one goal.
Freshman Tricia Mallory leads the Bearkats in scoring with four goals. Kelsi Brown, Emily Edenstrom, Natalie Johnson and Kirby Zak have each tallied once this season.
The Prairie View match is the third home contest in a row for Sam Houston at Pritchett. The Kats defeated North Texas 1-0 in overtime in their first home game, then lost to Baylor 2-0 and defeated Grambling State 2-0 in a pair of contests at Pritchett last weekend.
All three of Sam Houston's victories have been shutouts with senior goalkeeper Jenny Pence having another outstanding season. Pence holds the Sam Houston school record for career goalkeeper shutouts (20) and goalkeeper victories (30). A key factor in the defensive success has been the play of back line players Lindsey Posner, Deanna Long, Carly Rheman, Nichole Rodriguez and Hilary Ackerman.
Sam Houston begins 2010 Southland action next week with a road trip to Arkansas and Louisiana. The Kats will battle Central Arkansas and Northwestern State.
