Huntsville -- Bo Ingram scored 28 points to lead UT-Arlington to a 65-58 Southland Conference men's basketball victory over Sam Houston Wednesday at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
UTA (7-8, SLC 1-1) took the lead on a three-point shot by Ingram with 4:13 remaining in the first half and never trailed again. The Maverick defense limited Sam Houston to 18-of-52 shooting from the floor (34.6 percent) as the Kats hit only 4-of-22 shots from three point range.
Sam Houston (8-7, SLC 1-1) was led by Gilberto Clavell with 16 points and 12 rebounds. SHSU's Antuan Bootle led both teams with a career best 15 boards.
UTA built a 13 point lead with 9:26 to play going up 49-36 on another three-pointer by Ingram. The Bearkats could come no closer than six points during the rest of the game.
Nafis Richardson also scored in double figures for the Bearkats with 11 points. Marcus Williams and Josten Crow each added nine point.
Sam Houston continues its two-game Southland home stand Saturday when the Bearkats play host to Nicholls at 2 p.m.
