Zabransky joins BSN broadcast

A new voice will be in the broadcast booth on Saturday when the Sam Houston State Bearkats take on Lamar at Bowers Stadium.
Former Boise State quarterback Jared Zabransky will join play-by-play announcer Eric Schrader on the Bearkat Sports Network online stream of the game.
"This is something I am really looking forward to," Zabransky said. "I have done some broadcast work in the past and have always enjoyed it."
Zabransky may be best known for his performance in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, when the Broncos defeated Oklahoma. In overtime, Zabransky executed a perfect Statue of Liberty play to score the game-winning two-point conversion.
He worked as a color analyst on the ESPN Radio broadcast of the 2007 Humanitarian Bowl between Fresno State and Georgia.
"This is a big addition to the broadcast," said SHSU media services coordinator Jason Barfield. "Jared not only brings a known name to the booth, but he will bring some experience as a color analyst to the broadcast as well. We have been talking for about a month and I'm glad we were able to make this work."
After finishing up a prolific college career where has was named the Offensive MVP of the Fiesta Bowl, Zabransky signed a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans. He also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League before retiring from football.
Zabransky majored in Mass Communication at Boise State, graduating on the dean's list.
He brings a knowledge of the Bearkats to the booth as well. Zabransky volunteered with the Sam Houston State coaching staff over the summer, evaluating the quarterbacks. He currently owns his own business and works for National Oilwell Varco.
Zabransky, who was an all-state basketball player in Oregon, will also assist with the Bearkat Sports Network basketball broadcasts this season as well.
The Bearkat Sports Network live video streams are available by subscription. There are three different subscription plans available, $8.95 for one month, $29.95 to four months and $69.95 for one year.
