Dakarai Henderson, a 6-2 guard from Pearland Dawson High School, is an early signing for the Sam Houston State University men's basketball program.
Henderson, the District 24-4A "Newcomer of the Year" last season, is averaging 24.8 points per game for Dawson.
Last season his 126 three-point baskets led Texas Class 4A high school basketball.
"Dakarai is an outstanding shooter who can provide offense on the perimeter," Sam Houston head coach Jason Hooten said. "We're excited to have him in the program."
This season, Henderson is shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 39.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc. He is an 82.3 percent shooter at the free throw line.
"Dakarai is just an awesome kid with a great work ethic," Hooten said. "He really has taken a great leadership role with his team and constantly works on improving his game."
