Visitors to the Huntsville and Conroe area will find a weekend visit to the area exciting and fun with a plethora of activities December 2-4.
Fans can kick off their holiday season with an array of holiday festivities mixed with hometown hospitality. Whether it's a Journey thoughBethlehem or Cocoa with Santa, the area's hometown festivities will get football fans in the holiday spirit.
The Huntsville Cultural District is filled with the holiday spirit during "Huntsville for the Holidays" weekend. Visits to area museums and Cabin on the Square, wonderful shopping opportunities to get that special gift and a special visit to Santa are just part of the fun.
Huntsville Hotels and Bed & Breakfasts are also offering special holiday weekend rates, so fans should be sure to ask when making reservations.
There's lots of sports excitement as well.
Sam Houston's nationally ranked women's bowling team that earned a spot in the NCAA Division I "Elite Eight" playoffs last year will be hosting the "Kat Klash" bowling tournament at Huntsville Lanes Friday through Sunday. Several of the nation's top teams will be competing.
The Bearkat men's and women's basketball teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday night Dec. 1 at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum. The women host Texas-Pan American at 6 p.m. and the men play Paul Quinn College at 8 p.m.
The weekend climaxes with No. 1 seed Sam Houston's playoff game with either Stony Brook or Albany in the NCAA Division I playoff second round game at 2 p.m. at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.

Tickets for the NCAA Division I Football Playoff games may be purchased immediately on line at www.gobearkats.com/tickets . The Bearkat athletic ticket office in the Ron Mafrige Fieldhouse at Bowers Stadium will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 and Monday through Friday the week of the second round game.
