The women enter Thursday's contest with a 2-2 season mark after home victories versus UT-Tyler and Mary Hardin-Baylor and losing in strong performances on the road at Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
The Bearkats will be looking for revenge against the Broncs. UT-Pan American defeated SHSU 78-66 in the pair's meeting last season in Edinburg.
Three Sam Houston players enter the game with double figure scoring averages. Sequeena Thomas is averaging 19.0 points and 10.3 rebounds. Britni Martin adds 15.3 points and 4.0 rebounds while Angela Beadle is averaging 13.0 points and 8.5 rebounds.
LaQuita Garner leads UT-Pan American with 11.4 points per game.
"We had two strong performances on the road last week at Vanderbilt and Kentucky," SHSU women's basketball head coach Brenda Nichols. "We did a great job of breaking Kentucky's full court press."
The men's basketball team got back on the winning track Tuesday night with an 82-63 victory over Dallas Christian.
Sam Houston stands 2-5 for the year but the Bearkats are 2-0 at home at Johnson Coliseum.
Konner Tucker is averaging 12.3 points per game and Marcus James and Michael Holyfield are adding 8.7 and 7.4 points per contest, respectively.
Guards Demarcus Gatlin and Darius Gatson sport scoring averages of 7.3 and 6.9 points, respectively.
Thursday's doubleheader marks the last home action for both teams before finals week. The women travel to Grambling on Saturday, Dec. 10, while the men play at Texas A&M on Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 10.
Following finals, the women will play at TCU on Sunday, Dec. 18, before returning to Johnson Coliseum for a 2 p.m. contest against Southland Alabama on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The men's next home game is also on Tuesday, Dec. 20, when the Bearkats play host to Northern Arizona at 7 p.m.
