Bearkats named Academic All-Southland

The Bearkats produced two of the five first team selections with Josten Crow and Lance Pevehouse both listed.
Crow, a senior from Westfield High School in Houston, is a three-time member of the Academic All-Southland honor squad. Pevehouse, a senior from League City, is a two-time selection.
The members of the Academic All-Southland Conference men's basketball team are select by vote of the league's head coaches, sports information contacts and academic advisors. Student‐athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all‐academic squad.
Crow and Pevehouse both earned their Sam Houston bachelor's degrees in three years and are now working towards their Master's degrees. Pevehouse produced the highest GPA (4.00) of the 10 players on the honor squad. Crow posted a 3.66 grade point average.
With the pair's honor, Sam Houston men's basketball now has placed nine players on the Academic All-Southland team a total of 19 times since 2006.
Both players were named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District selection and were co-captains of the Bearkat basketball team that won the Southland West Division title for the third year in a row.
Crow earned All-Southland Conference honorable mention honors in 2011. His Southland statistical rankings included No. 15 scoring (12.7), No. 18 rebounding (5.3), No. 9 assists (3.5), No. 2 steals (1.8), No. 10 3-point fgs (1.6), No. 6 assist/turnover ratio (1.8). He completed four-year career ranked No. 38 in all-time Sam Houston scoring.
Pevehouse ranked No. 14 in steals (1.3) in the Southland and was the team's third-leading scorer and top three-point shooter.
