The Aggies bring a 30-11 record into the contest. That includes a 10-1 victory over Sam Houston in the pair's first meeting this year on March 23 in College Station.
That night the Aggies jumped on the Kats early, scoring four runs in both the first and second innings. Left fielder Kelsey Spittler brought in three runs with a first inning double. First baseman Rhianon Kliesing blasted a two-run homer to center field to give the Aggies a 10-0 lead after three innings.
Kliesing is Texas A&M's top hitter with a .373 batting average this year that includes 14 home run. The Aggies have totaled 55 home runs in 41 games this year.
Sam Houston brings a 15-24 season mark into Wednesday's game.
Shortstop Hailey Wiginton and outfielder Alex Survant lead the Bearkats with batting averages of .325 and .321, respectively.
Sam Houston right-handed pitcher Tomi Garrison produced the 20th no-hitter by a Bearkat last Saturday in a 3-0 victory at McNeese State.
Following Wednesday's encounter with Texas A&M, Sam Houston returns to Southland Conference action this weekend.
The Bearkats will play host to league leaders Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The series begins with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and concludes Sunday with a 12 noon single game.
Sam Houston owns a 7-10 Southland Conference mark to stand in sixth place in the league standings. The top six finishers in the final regular season standings earn a berth in the Southland Conference tournament to be hosted by Sam Houston in Huntsville in May.
