Southland Conference women's championship

A fourth place finish in the heptathlon by Morgan Davis highlighted action for the Sam Houston women's track and field team in the first two days of action at the 2011 Southland Conference Outdoor Championships.
The event is being hosted by Northwestern State University.
The Sam Houston women stand in seventh place in the team competition with 19.5 points.
Davis totaled 4,723 points in the two-day heptathlon event. Her top individual event finish was a runner-up showing in the 100 meter hurdles (14.50).
Sam Houston's Danielle Ordonez was seventh in the heptathlon with 4,616 points sand Kaylee Brazeel was 16th with 3,793 points.
Other top performances Saturday included a third place finish in the long jump by Ambra McCuin (18' 10") and Christina Webb placing fourth in the shot put (46' 10.25") and seventh in the disucs (149' 5").
A number of Bearkat women earned spots in Sunday's running event finals with qualifying performances Saturday.
Among those who will see action again in the finals on Sunday are Lygia Foreman, Simbi George and Ayanna Magee in the 400 meters; Sabrina Starr, Davis and Pashe Moore in the 100 meter hurdles; Dakota Stewart in the 400 hurdles and Alyssa Dooley in the 1500 meters.
