Second day action Saturday was highlighted by a runner-up finish by Louis Hedgeman the high jump with a mark of 6' 10.75" Saturday.
Preston Sanders placed fourth in the shot put (56' 1.75"); Matt Johnson was fourth in the javelin (197' 0") and fifth in the long jump (23' 5.5"); Josh Sigmon earned a fifth place finish in the decathlon with 6,196 points and Jacob Shultz was sixth in the shot put (53' 5.75")
Several Bearkat men put themselves in position to earn more points for the Bearkats by qualifying for Sunday's running event finals.
Qualifiers included Henry Jordan (100 meters), D. J. Hayes (200 and 400 meters), Marquis Sneed (400 meters), Brian Hellaire (400 meters), Matt Stephenson (800 meters), Matt Johnson (110 hurdles), Scottie Jones (110 hurdles), Jay Newman (400 hurdles) and Matt Viverette (400 hurdles).
Stephen F. Austin leads the men's competition with a total of 82 points. UT-Arlington is second at 58.5 followed by UTSA 55.5 and Sam Houston 33.
Competition concludes Sunday afternoon with more field event finals and the finals of the running events.
