Hayes won the 400 meters with a time of 46.49 seconds then teamed with Marquis Sneed, Brian Helaire and Rodney Jones for a victory in the 4x400 with a mark of 3:09.97. Hayes also was fifth in the 200 meters (21.33).
Cralle threw the hammer 206' 8" for the Bearkat men's other first place individual finish.
Stephen F. Austin won the men's team championship with 162 points. UTSA was the runner-up with 146 points followed by UTA 128 and Sam Houston 113.
Other top men's performances included runner-up finishes by Jay Newman (52.27) in the 400 meter hurdles, Louis Hedgeman in the men's high jump with a leap of 6' 10.75" and Scottie Jones (13.94) in the 110 meter hurdles.
Fourth place finishers for the men included Marquis Sneed (47.77) in the 400 meters, Matt Johnson (197' 0") in the javelin and Karique Stephens (50' 4.75") in the triple jump.
