
Hawkins, Kolbe named as MVPs

Hawkins, a sophomore from Dickinson, and Kolbe, a junior from College Station, both were named to the 2010 All-Southland volleyball team after leading the Bearkats to sixth consecutive Southland tournament appearance. Both are two-time all-league honorees.
Carli Kolbi ranked third in the Southland this year in kills and kills per set. She is the first Bearkat to post more than 400 kills in back-to-back seasons since 2005.
Kaylee Hawkins ranked eighth in the league in digs and was a major force as an outside hitter in conference play. Kaylee also was named Academic All-Southland
The pair were two of 14 athletes recognized as "Most Valuable" for the 2010-11 at the banquet.
The Most Valuable awards for 2010-11 by sport were Jenny Pence (soccer), Alyssa Dooley (women's cross country), Patrick Krol (men's cross country), Kaylee Hawkins and Carli Kolbe (volleyball), Tim Flanders (football), Morgan Davis (women's indoor track and field), Matt Johnson (men's indoor track and field), Britni Martin and Sequeena Thomas (women's basketball), Gilberto Clavell (men's basketball), Dayna Galganski (bowling), Nadia Dubyanskaya (tennis) and Hailey Wiginton (softball).
