Road tilts at Grambling State & Rice

Sam Houston continues its five-match road swing with trips to play Grambling State and Rice this weekend.
The Bearkats take on the Tigers at Grambling, La., Friday at 4 p.m. Sam Houston will battle the Owls in Houston Sunday at 7 p.m.
The soccer team brings a 1-3 record into the weekend. Sam Houston lost its season opener at Baylor 3-0 then defeated Houston Baptist 2-1 in the 2011 home opener in the first weekend of the season.
Last week, the Bearkats lost twice on a visit to Oklahoma, falling 3-2 to Oral Roberts and 6-0 to Tulsa.
Sophomore Tricia Mallory and freshman Jessica Toms have been providing the offense for the Bearkats, combing for 13 of the team's 31 shots.
Mallory scored the game-winning goal in the victory over Houston Baptist.
Sam Houston will wrap up its road swing with a match at North Texas Friday Sept. 8. The Bearkats return home Sunday Sept. 11 to host Texas Southern.
