Davis runner-up in pentathlon

Senior Morgan Davis highlighted Bearkat action in the University of Houston Indoor and Multi on Friday by taking second place in the pentathlon, a five event competition in which each event is ranked on a points system. The pentathlon includes the 60 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and the 800 meter run.
Davis earned a career high of 3,494 points behind a first place finish in the shot put, second place in the 800 meters and third place in the 60 meter hurdles and high jump.
Not only was the mark a new personal best, it will also puts her among the all-time Sam Houston bests. 3,494 points is the fourth highest mark ever by an SHSU athlete in the pentathlon. The three better marks were all set by one women, SHSU great Signe Vest-Peterse, who was part of Sam Houston's outdoor conference championship team in 2005.
