Homer is a 5-10 outside hitter from La Grange. She also plays for Texstar volleyball club. Genung is a 5-11 middle blocker from Fort Bend Austin High School and the Fort Bend Fire club team. Sherman is a 5-9 setter from El Paso Chapin High School who also plays for El Paso Wildfire volleyball club.
Homer is a four-year varsity player at LaGrange who earned All-District honors not only in volleyball but softball and basketball and was an all-state third baseman in softball and outside hitter in volleyball. She was a Max Prep junior All-America selction in 2012 and a three-time Academic All-District honoree.
This month, she was named to the Texas Class 3A state championships all-tournament team after leading LaGrange to the state finals.
"Breanna makes the game look easy," Gray said. "She is a true six-rotation outside who hits a heavy ball. She led her team to a state runner-up finish this season. Breanna is also a multi-sport athlete who has excelled in all arenas."
Sherman is a three-year varsity player who totaled 393 kills, 399 assists, 55 aces and 82 blocks in her previous season. She led El Paso Wildfire to a bronze medal at 2012 Junior Nationals 18 and has earned honors as El Paso Times All-City "Outstanding Setter" and "Newcomer of the Year." She led her team to Bi-District championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
"Sarah has a bright future," Gray said. "She is a good jumper, left-handed, intelligent, and naturally possesses good leadership skills. On top of this, she has great work ethic and should be able to contribute early in her career."
Genung earned both All-District first team and Academic All-District and Academic Excellence honors this fall. She was an All-District honorable mention selection in 2010 and first team in 2011.
This fall she totaled 199 kills, a .317 hitting percentage, 77 aces and 75 blocks.
"Shelby is a blue collar athlete. She works hard to always make sure she stays involved in the match and exudes positive energy," Gray said. "She is a versatile attacker with a strong arm. With training, she should turn into a very consistent middle for us."
The three new signees will join a Bearkat volleyball program in 2013 that won its first Southland Conference championship since 1994.
