21 Top 10 Finishes at OU Indoor

Sophomore Freddy Arellano set a new school record in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:32.09, beating the old record set by Brandon Mosely in 2005 by more than six seconds. Arellano earned second place in the event.
Also etching their names in the record book for the 1,000 meter were seniors Clint Anders (2:33.09) and Patrick Krol (2:38.26) who took third and fifth respectively.
Arellano also took second place in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:16.82.
Senior Henry Jordan jumped a season best of 22-11.75 in the long jump for a second place finish, his second top four finish of the season.
Karique Stephen jumped a season best 49-1 in the triple jump for a third place finish. Stephen ranks among the top five triple jumpers going into this week's conference championship.
Sophomore football player Preston Sanders took part in his first track and field competition this year throwing shot put. After just one meet he has tallied the second best throw in the conference this year. His 56-8.5 throw took third place.
Also placing in the top three was Matt Buegeler in the 200 meter dash with a season best time of 22.27 seconds.
Buegeler also teamed up with Trey Jones, Jesse Martinez and Matthew Viverette for a third place finish in the 4x400 meter relay (3:21.87).
The SHSU track and field teams will head right back up to Norman, Oklahoma this weekend to compete in the Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
