Strong finishes by the Bearkats

The team was led by Jenny Zoch, who continued her successful 2012 and improved upon her three marks from last week's dual meet.
Zoch took third in the shot put with a throw of 47-8.5. She also earned eighth in the hammer throw (158-10) and ninth in the discus (137-10).
"Jenny has been 'Mrs. Consistency' this year," said Coach Dave Self. "She was dead on in the shot as always and she's really going to be able to help us out in the conference meet."
Shelbie Zotyka also continued her 2012 success at Rice, taking third in the pole vault by clearing 12-3.5.
"Shelbie had some good jumps and the conditions were pretty tough," said Self. "For her to be able to press through those conditions and still jump well says good things about her moving forward."
Amanda Dunlap ran a personal record of 2:18.03 in the 800 meters for a fifth place finish.
"That was a huge PR for Amanda," said Self. "She really came through when she needed to and put a good race down."
Also placing sixth for the Kats were Shauni Prihoda in the javelin throw (116-3) and Sara Collazos in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:46.57).
The next action for both track and field teams will be next weekend at the Texas Relays in Austin.
