Softball hosts SFA at 4 p.m. Tuesday

Sam Houston (8-15, Southland 2-2) plays host to Stephen F. Austin (8-18, Southland 1-3) at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
The Bearkats saw its seven-game winning streak end with a pair of losses on the road to first place Central Arkansas.
Tori Benavidez (.347), Kim Damian (.329), Alyssa Coggins (.294) and Shelbi Tucker (.293) lead Sam Houston State at the plate. Tomi Garrison leads SHSU in the pitching circle with 40 strike outs.
The Lumberjacks are coming off a 1-1 series split against Nicholls State this past weekend. SFA pitchers Carlie Thomas and Angela White combined to pitch 14 innings while allowing no earned runs and just two walks. The Jacks were shutout for the sixth time this season and saw their team batting average dip below .200.
The Bearkats are second in the conference in homeruns (23). Allison (6 HR), Damian (5 HR) and Shelbi Tucker (4 HR) are the top SHSU sluggers.
Next action for Sam Houston following the SFA doubleheader will be Southland doubleheader with Northwestern State Sunday afternoon and a non-conference doubleheader with Houston Baptist Tuesday, April 3.
