Plucheck's catch makes top 10 list

With the game on the line, Luke Plucheck made a mad sprint to his left, dove and made a spectacular catch to potentially save the game for the Bearkats and win the series.
The last thing Plucheck expected was to see the replay of the catch eight hours later on ESPN. The ninth inning grab landed Plucheck on Sports Center's top 10 plays of the week, checking in at No. 8.
“Something like that, especially up by one run, you know if it gets by you it is not the end of the world because we still have at bat coming up,” Plucheck said after the game. “Honestly out of the corner of my eye I had seen Colt (Atwood) running at it as well. He hadn't called it yet and I thought if I dove and didn't come up with it he would be right there and would hopefully hold him at second.”
The play was the first out of the inning and turned out to be big as UC Riverside ended up leaving two runners stranded in the ninth as the Kats preserved a 4-3 win and giving them two wins on the weekend to take the series.
It is the third time in the last months the Kats have had a play featured on Sports Center. During football season, sophomore running back Tim Flanders' flip into the end zone against SFA was the No. 5 play of the day on Sports Center and during the playoffs, Brian Bell's touchdown pass to Trey Diller was also the No. 5 play on Sports Center.
“I called Tim after the game and told him he may have some company on the top 10 list,” Plucheck said. “Sports Center has always been my favorite show and as an athlete all you want is to have that one play that can make the top 10 for millions of people to see.”
