The Bearkats stand 6-5 in non-conference play after taking their second home series by a two games to one margin over UC Riverside last weekend.
Luke Plucheck and Kevin Miller lead the Kats at the plate with .371 and .348 batting averages, respectively. Plucheck made a game-saving catch in left center field in the top of the ninth after scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning after a triple.
Michael Burchett (1-0, 3.75 ERA) is slated to pitch for the Kats Tuesday night.
Houston Baptist brings a 4-6 record into Tuesday's action.
Collin Hetzler (.400) leads the Huskies at the plate.
Sam Houston will open Southland Conference play with a three game series against Stephen F. Austin. First pitch for each of the games is schedule at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
