Senior Henry Jordan earned the first victory of the meet for the Kats in the long jump. He leaped 24-5 for the win on his first jump of the competition, about an inch short of a season best.
Jordan also took seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.82.
Matthew Viverette won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.32. It was his first win of the season.
The 4x400 meter relay also took a meet championship for Sam Houston. Trey Jones, Brian Helaire, DJ Hayes and Jesse Martinez won the event besting their previous season record this season by over a second.
The sprint relay for the Bearkats also performed well, taking second place. Jordan, Hayes, Matt Buegeler and Jarrick Wright teamed up to sprint for a time of 40.66.
Wright also earned sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.70.
Cutter Bernhard outdid his season best by a foot in the pole vault (15-5.5) to take runner-up in the event.
Preston Sanders once again impressed in his first meet for the Kats, this time in the outdoor season. Sanders tossed the shot put 55-5.5 for another runner-up finish for the Kats.
Also performing well at the meet was Karique Stephen in the triple jump. He jumped his way to a new season best by almost two feet.
Stephen's jump of 49-1.5 took third place.
Both SHSU track and field teams will compete at home this Thursday in the Bearkat Twilight meet at Bowers Stadium.
